The Best Eco-Friendly Baby Products For A Baby Registry

I’ve had this post in drafts for a long time. Now that I welcomed my second child, I thought it was time to finally share this post to help new parents find good quality products for their new babies. As mothers, we want to welcome our babies into our life, making sure they are safe, healthy and happy. That means we need to get some good quality, toxin-free, organic products.

The list for a new baby (and a new mother) is enormous so I am here to help with green toxic-free products and a minimalist approach. Caring for our children means much more than providing them with safety, comfort, and protection. Caring for our children means also caring for the planet that they will inherit. From now on, caring for the environment is not only an act of love and kindness towards humanity but now, more than ever, it’s also an act of love towards your baby. What better gift can you give your child than ensuring that they have a safe and clean world to grow up in?

Every tiny bit counts, so if you want to build your baby registry with sustainability in mind and if you value products made from natural, eco-friendly materials and organic ingredients, then take a look at the list below with some of the best eco-friendly baby products. Please keep in mind this is a minimalist list so you won’t find things like nursing pillows, toys or baby swings for example.

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected. Some of the links on this page are affiliate links which means if you decide to shop from them, we might earn a small percentage, at no cost for you. Items are in stock as of the time of publication. I thank you in advance for any purchase you make with my links.

Before We Start…

Before you start creating your baby registry there are 2 important things you should do:

Reuse

Ask your close family and friends if they have some baby items to hand down to you. This is the cheapest, most eco-friendly way to get some items for your baby.

Create a Registry & Save

Create a baby registry with items that will help you care for your beautiful new baby for the first year. It will also help you avoid the repetition of gifts and help your friends and family offer the eco-friendly and toxic-free items you chose. I recommend Amazon Baby Registry as you can select from thousands of online stores and it’s a platform everybody knows how to use. Plus, you will get some great discounts, 365 days to return, and great surprises like a welcome box. Follow this link to know more.

Green / Toxic Free Product List

Diapering

Cloth diapers sound intimidating, but they are becoming very user-friendly and each time more absorbent. We don’t usually have all the time in the world so what I recommend is to buy around four or five reusable diapers and combine it with eco-friendly disposable diapers. Remember that for each reusable diaper you will be saving around 200 disposable diapers, which is quite a lot. I recommend SmartNappy reusable diapers by Amazing Baby, which includes bi-folds and boosters for extra protection.

You don’t have to give up convenience to contribute to the conservation of ecosystems throughout the world. There are a lot of affordable brands online for biodegradable baby wipes, made out of materials sourced straight from earth. Take a look at YuGi Baby Green organic, hypoallergenic, paraben-free and biodegradable baby wipes on Amazon.

Feeding

Bootles

Even if you’re planning to breastfeed, you should always buy a set of bottles. I found this cute brand, NanoBebe. which offers bootles that resemble an actual breast. The bigger surface allows milk to heat and cool twice as fast, and preserve critical nutrients. This is cruciall, especially for breastmilk. My recommendation is the very affordable Baby Bottle Starter Set.

Breast Pump

A breast pump is mandatory for any mom. Even if you’re planning on staying with the baby the whole time. It will help you remove the excess milk (which, if not done, can be quite painful) and also, help you gain your freedom. Feeding your baby with your own milk is a million times better than formula. I truly recommend Medela breastfeeding products, which are based on more than 50 years of innovation and evidence-based research into the life-giving benefits of breast milk.

Burp Cloths

You will need a lot of burp cloths for the first months so make sure you get at least 8 or 10 burp cloths. Babies’ digestive system is still developing in the first months, which might cause some reflux. There’s not a lot to say about this item: just look for absorbent materials, preferably made of organic cotton or bamboo and that they are big enough to actually protect you. You can follow my link below for eco-friendly options on Amazon.

Bibs

Just like the burp cloths, bibs are essential to help you keep your baby clean. Especially when they start teething, they will be droolling a lot so make sure you get a good amount of bibs. Look for eco-friendly brands, absorbent materials and good quality fabrics, so they last for a long time. I personally love this fair trade brand so take a look at their website.

Because they are washable you can say goodbye to mold, bacteria and allergens which means this is a mattress that you will be able to use for more than one baby, reducing waste.

I found this beautiful brand, a small family business, that offers breathable, cozy and adorable triple layer blankets: Captain Silly Pants. Take a look at their website, is just adorable.

It’s also ergonomically designed to follow your baby’s natural mouth movements and stimulate the experience of nursing.

Clek car seats combine safety with parent-friendly ease-of-use and modern style. Baby Carrier or Wrap

If you’re looking for a good quality wrap you can definitely trust Solly Baby wraps (Anne Hathaway, Pink and Serena Williams did!). Baby wraps promote bonding between parents and the baby, providing a womb-like environment and helping the babies calm down, whilst giving you back your hands.

If you prefer a baby carrier I recommend Ergobaby baby carriers, made of 100% certified organic cotton twill and sateen. It adapts to your growing baby from newborn to toddler, provides renowned ergonomic support for the baby and allows ultimate breathability and airflow.

Medicine & Baby Care

This is an optional item but I add it to this list since we are living unusual times with Covid and it might be necessary in case your baby is not growing at the desired rate and you don’t want to be visiting the doctor every 2 days. With a baby scale at home you can track your baby’s growth progress by yourself, helping you make sure your baby is getting the food he needs. I really think this item can be useful for some families. I recommend Minimax Digital Baby Scale from Baby Doppler.

A nasal aspirator is a medicine cabinet must-have.This tool will help you clear your newborn’s sensitive nasal passages of mucus, helping relieve congestion. Without proper cleaning, the baby might have a hard time feeding and breathing. They’re also environmentally friendly since you’re not throwing away multiple pads each day.

Clothing

Newborns don’t require an extensive wardrobe. But there are some basics that you’ll want to have on hand when your baby comes home. The minimum I recommend is:

7 Onesies
7 Shirts
5 Pants
5 Bodysuits
3 Sweaters or jackets
7 Socks
2 Newborn hats
