I’ve had this post in drafts for a long time. Now that I welcomed my second child, I thought it was time to finally share this post to help new parents find good quality products for their new babies. As mothers, we want to welcome our babies into our life, making sure they are safe, healthy and happy. That means we need to get some good quality, toxin-free, organic products.
The list for a new baby (and a new mother) is enormous so I am here to help with green toxic-free products and a minimalist approach. Caring for our children means much more than providing them with safety, comfort, and protection. Caring for our children means also caring for the planet that they will inherit. From now on, caring for the environment is not only an act of love and kindness towards humanity but now, more than ever, it’s also an act of love towards your baby. What better gift can you give your child than ensuring that they have a safe and clean world to grow up in?
Every tiny bit counts, so if you want to build your baby registry with sustainability in mind and if you value products made from natural, eco-friendly materials and organic ingredients, then take a look at the list below with some of the best eco-friendly baby products. Please keep in mind this is a minimalist list so you won’t find things like nursing pillows, toys or baby swings for example.
We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected. Some of the links on this page are affiliate links which means if you decide to shop from them, we might earn a small percentage, at no cost for you. Items are in stock as of the time of publication. I thank you in advance for any purchase you make with my links.

Green / Toxic Free Product List
Cloth diapers sound intimidating, but they are becoming very user-friendly and each time more absorbent. We don’t usually have all the time in the world so what I recommend is to buy around four or five reusable diapers and combine it with eco-friendly disposable diapers. Remember that for each reusable diaper you will be saving around 200 disposable diapers, which is quite a lot. I recommend SmartNappy reusable diapers by Amazing Baby, which includes bi-folds and boosters for extra protection.
You don’t have to give up convenience to contribute to the conservation of ecosystems throughout the world. There are a lot of affordable brands online for biodegradable baby wipes, made out of materials sourced straight from earth. Take a look at YuGi Baby Green organic, hypoallergenic, paraben-free and biodegradable baby wipes on Amazon.
Even if you’re planning to breastfeed, you should always buy a set of bottles. I found this cute brand, NanoBebe. which offers bootles that resemble an actual breast. The bigger surface allows milk to heat and cool twice as fast, and preserve critical nutrients. This is cruciall, especially for breastmilk. My recommendation is the very affordable Baby Bottle Starter Set.
A breast pump is mandatory for any mom. Even if you’re planning on staying with the baby the whole time. It will help you remove the excess milk (which, if not done, can be quite painful) and also, help you gain your freedom. Feeding your baby with your own milk is a million times better than formula. I truly recommend Medela breastfeeding products, which are based on more than 50 years of innovation and evidence-based research into the life-giving benefits of breast milk.
You will need a lot of burp cloths for the first months so make sure you get at least 8 or 10 burp cloths. Babies’ digestive system is still developing in the first months, which might cause some reflux. There’s not a lot to say about this item: just look for absorbent materials, preferably made of organic cotton or bamboo and that they are big enough to actually protect you. You can follow my link below for eco-friendly options on Amazon.
Just like the burp cloths, bibs are essential to help you keep your baby clean. Especially when they start teething, they will be droolling a lot so make sure you get a good amount of bibs. Look for eco-friendly brands, absorbent materials and good quality fabrics, so they last for a long time. I personally love this fair trade brand so take a look at their website.
Feed your child with high quality organic, BFA free, melamine free, lead free and no biologically harmful chemical materials. Avanchy baby feeding bowls are made of organic bamboo and features a silicone ring that suctions to any flat surface for easy eating and even easier cleanup. Beautiful, sustainable and functional.
A good mattress might be the answer for a good night of sleep for both you and your baby so, invest in a good one. I truly recommend Newton Baby mattresses. They offer the only 100% breathable & washable crib mattresses, with the perfect combo of cushy firmness and the right level of air circulation. Because they are washable you can say goodbye to mold, bacteria and allergens which means this is a mattress that you will be able to use for more than one baby, reducing waste.
The best way to save our environment and your wallet is to get a convertible crib. I recommend Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 crib because it has been tested for over 10,000 chemicals and passes the most stringent emission standards. Plus, it comes with a toddler bed conversion kit so it transitions from crib to toddler bed and daybed.
Newborns spend up to 17 hours a day sleeping so you should invest in good quality sheets. I recommend Natemia Crib Sheets. Made of 100% GOTS certified organic Turkish cotton, their crib sheets fit all standard-sized baby and toddler mattresses. Super soft, organic and non toxic, Natemia crib sheets are a product you can trust. Natemia is a small family business from the US, focused on bringing high-quality, natural baby essentials to parents at an affordable price.
Even full-term and healthy newborns may not be able to maintain their body temperature so you should always get some good quality blankets for your baby. I found this beautiful brand, a small family business, that offers breathable, cozy and adorable triple layer blankets: Captain Silly Pants. Take a look at their website, is just adorable.
The final touch for your nursery might be a pacifier. Sometimes a pacifier is incredibly helpful to soothe a fussy baby, ease some discomfort and help them fall asleep. I recommend Natursutten Orthodontic Pacifier. This pacifier is made from 100% natural, sustainable rubber. It’s also ergonomically designed to follow your baby’s natural mouth movements and stimulate the experience of nursing.
You’ll need at least two baby towels for your baby. I personally recommend Natemia bamboo hooded baby towels. They are incredibly soft, thick and ultra absorbent and made from premium quality fabrics. The brand also offers the cutest robes, free from harmful chemicals and toxins that you can check out here. Natemia is a brand that works only with sustainable products, so you can keep your baby safe and care for the environment.
I truly recommend Stokke Flexi Bath tub with Newborn Support. It’s lightweight, portable and folds flat for easy storage. It has a non-slip base and a plug for easy draining. Stokke is a brand that strives towards sustainable solutions, ensuring the longevity of the products. How? High-quality, durable materials, grow-with-your-child functionality, together with timeless design.
I recommend the Honest Company Shampoo & Body Wash, Conditioner, and Bubble Bath variety pack. All products are pH balanced, tear-free, hypoallergenic & pediatrically tested. The Honest Company is an honestly safe baby and beauty store that brings innovative formulas and thoughtful designs to all of our beauty and baby products.
The American Red Cross Deluxe Baby Healthcare and Grooming Kit is a robust collection of nursery essentials. This grooming kit is essential for your baby and provides all the items needed from infant to toddler. It includes a nasal aspirator, digital thermometer with case, comfort tip medicine spoon with cap, brush, comb, baby nail clipper, fingertip toothbrush, toddler toothbrush, a mirror and more. All zipped into a deluxe travel/storage tote.
The Joolz Geo2 Mono Complete Stroller Set is an all-terrain stroller with unique features like the one-motion folding, the transport lock, and the possibility to add a new bassinet or seat for a sibling. Besides these and many other cool features, Joolz products comply with the most stringent regulations and certifications in the world. All materials used by Joolz are completely free of any toxic chemicals. Last but not least, the brand offers a lifetime warranty and has some green initiatives like planting a tree for every stroller sold and adopting sustainable fabric options.
Clek car seats combine safety with parent-friendly ease-of-use and modern style. The company was the first to remove brominated and chlorinated flame-retardants from their car seats and even offer an ethically-sourced 100% Merino wool option for this seat. With both a Rigid-LATCH system and a belt-tensioning system, the Liing car seat is extremely safe and comfortable, allowing you to relax and focus on the ride.
Baby Carrier or Wrap
If you’re looking for a good quality wrap you can definitely trust Solly Baby wraps (Anne Hathaway, Pink and Serena Williams did!). Baby wraps promote bonding between parents and the baby, providing a womb-like environment and helping the babies calm down, whilst giving you back your hands.
If you prefer a baby carrier I recommend Ergobaby baby carriers, made of 100% certified organic cotton twill and sateen. It adapts to your growing baby from newborn to toddler, provides renowned ergonomic support for the baby and allows ultimate breathability and airflow.
Medicine & Baby Care
This is an optional item but I add it to this list since we are living unusual times with Covid and it might be necessary in case your baby is not growing at the desired rate and you don’t want to be visiting the doctor every 2 days. With a baby scale at home you can track your baby’s growth progress by yourself, helping you make sure your baby is getting the food he needs. I really think this item can be useful for some families. I recommend Minimax Digital Baby Scale from Baby Doppler.
A nasal aspirator is a medicine cabinet must-have.This tool will help you clear your newborn’s sensitive nasal passages of mucus, helping relieve congestion. Without proper cleaning, the baby might have a hard time feeding and breathing. I recommend OCCObaby nasal aspirator, because it’s BPA and Latex free and it has 3 Sizes of nose tips so it can be used both by newborns and toddlers.
Earth Mama’s Organic Balm is now 100% USDA Certified Organic, made with ethically sourced organic beeswax that’s been gathered in a bee-centric manner. Made with organic herbs and oils, this is a traditional and natural alternative to help comfort and soothe diaper area and skin. Earth Mama is Environmental Working Group (EWG) verified!
Earth Mama Organic Nipple Butter is a safe, soothing breastfeeding balm that is lanolin free and verified non GMO nipple cream. There’s no need to wash it off before nursing. It’s not sticky so bra pads don’t adhere to tender nipples, and it smooths on just like butter. It moisturizes dry skin, and brings your nipples back to their happy place!
Reduce waste and prevent visible leaks by adding Bamboobies Reusable Nursing Pads to your registry instead of disposable pads. They are made of organic cotton and bamboo, they’re super soft, discrete and machine washable. Reusable nursing pads are more cost-effective since you can wear them, wash them and use them again and again. They’re also environmentally friendly since you’re not throwing away multiple pads each day.
Newborns don’t require an extensive wardrobe. But there are some basics that you’ll want to have on hand when your baby comes home. The minimum I recommend is:
3 Sweaters or jackets
2 Newborn hats
I hope you got inspired for the creation of your baby registry and hopefully the adoption of greener products. All that we spend, should be spend wisely! I choose to promote brands that are good for the environment and/or are safe for your baby.
